Reading it certainly brings the reader closer to understanding the man behind the almost surreal, none too happy showbiz exterior. While I wasn't even born when most of the events in this book take place it's nice to see what kind of childhood he had, even if it wasn't the best with all the performing and traveling. It only skims the surface and gives just enough insight, a few morsels and titbits into his life as it was up to then, but you can't help but feel there was much more left unsaid. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

My friends, my close associates, know there’s another Michael that I find it difficult to present in the outlandish “public” situations I often find myself in. Very few are captioned, and it would have been interesting at least to know which year some of the shots were taken. He talked about not being able to have friends his own age unless they were in show business because all the other people he met, treated him like a celebrity -- always grabbing at him and wanting something other than friendship.

Interesting to watch soon after reading all about what lead up to that recording and fame that followed. There are very few books written on the art of storytelling, how to grip listeners, how to get a group of people together and amuse them. When Doubleday approached me about doing this book, I was interested in being able to talk about how I feel in a book that would be mine – my words and my voice.
