Description

It’s a fully manual lens, so requires manual focusing and you need to set the aperture with the lens’ ring rather than from the camera body. Other downsides are that it has a built-in hood, and therefore no filter attachment thread, and barrel distortion is clearly noticeable with no in-camera corrections being available. Other aspects of image quality are impressive, however, and it’s a fun lens to use. Seeking the best printer for your business? Hit your productivity targets with inkjet and laser printers that are a perfect fit for any workspace – including home offices. The lens has been put together well and handles nicely, and you soon start to appreciate the presence of the Control Ring as you use it to make small tweaks while shooting. The focusing system isn’t the most discreet but it is fast, and it works very well during video shooting. This is very much an all-purpose lens rather than one that’s optimized for any specific task.

No focus or other scales. Everything is read-out, including distance, in the viewfinder or rear LCD, so that's even better than having it on-lens.To be blunt, the RF35M didn’t quite meet my expectations. I continue to feel that it is a good, competent lens that is capable of producing very sharp results, but the overall rendering from the lens didn’t feel as special as the similarly priced Canon 35mm F2 IS, a lens that also has better performing autofocus and flare resistance. You can look at more images from the image gallery here and draw your own conclusions. Conclusion The lens has a new formula that sees 11 elements arranged in nine groups. This includes a single glass moulded aspherical element within the focusing group in the middle of the formula, which is in place both to combat spherical aberration and also to keep image quality consistent over focusing distances. This lens is sharp almost from the get-go, excellent in the centre when shooting wide open at f/1.8 and outstanding between f/2.8 and f/11. The edge performance isn't quite as good, requiring you to stop down to f/2.8 to get sharp results. Filters last a lifetime, so you may as well get the best. The Hoya HD3 stays cleaner than the others since it repels oil and dirt.

Canon RF 24mm F1.8 Build and handling

There are no lateral color fringes as shot on Canon cameras, which by default correct for any that may be there. Sure, but lenses do not produce color. They can only "damage" it by producing slight tint, blur, color aberrations, flare, reduce contrast, etc. Light produces colors. And it's the most important thing in photography. It's interesting the f/5.6 isn't sharper, this is because this amazing lens is already ultra sharp at f/1.8 and doesn't need to be stopped-down for optimum sharpness. The Lens Control Ring is now a defacto feature on virtually every RF lens and although it takes a little getting used to if you haven't encountered it before, it soon becomes quite a handy feature to have. This lens does many things, and does them all well. It shows that Canon is really on the ball; this is a very innovative lens different from all the others.
