Starred Review. To generate real thrills, an author must put real people behind the wheel, and Child does exactly that. Reacher may grow from type--the tough-guy loner, wounded and trying unsuccessfully to disengage--but he brings his own sinewy presence to the role.

Likewise for Kyle Mills writing in place of Vince Flynn. I find it painful to try and go through Mill’s rendition of Mitch Rapp. Reply Yes, the technique is one Child uses elsewhere, too --- the precise amount of time; the preview of the outcome before the slow, deliberate unfolding of the scene -- but it certainly grabs you here. Paulie -- with biceps so big he can't touch his shoulders with his fingers -- takes a dislike to Reacher, and the feeling is mutual; from the first, they get into a series of confrontations -- and, yes, it all builds to one hell of a final clash. Staff parking," I said. "Customers are in and out all day long. Unpredictable. But store people are in there for the duration. Safer."I'm not sure. Anybody who knows my family. Anybody in the rug community, I guess. We're well known." Thanks! I didn’t think of the book as a character introduction—after all, this is his seventh appearance––but it seems to be working that way. Reacher is an interesting guy. He’s a self-reliant ex-military cop. He has no possessions, no commitments, no family. He enjoys his solitude, but he worries about loneliness. He’s brave, for sure—like many military people are—but more than that he’s committed to doing what’s right. That’s an important part of his character. He’s tough and ruthless and he breaks the rules, but his heart is in the right place. First-time readers will see that in the very first chapter of Persuader––here, he’s hunting a man who wronged him ten years ago. Not a smart move on that guy’s part.

Reacher does kill quite a few people, but they did have it coming; some of the other violence -- particularly that perpetrated by Paulie -- is more disturbingly gratuitous. If Lee Child is 6’5″ tall and a bulky 250 pounds who formerly played a bit in the NFL… you’re looking at photos I’ve yet to see. Maybe Brian Bosworth would be a close description. A bit shorter and a bit lighter, but the rugged face and frightening demeanor would fit. The problem is that most actors turn to acting because they are too short to participate in sports. So… there isn’t an abundance of guys who fit the bill. Twenty years ago I did. Hahahaha!! Reply Im 80 years old,and I,have being reading your books for the last four years, my husband was a ex Militery Police, and I use to pretend,.That Reacher was my husband.I have read some of your books twice,i just finish the Sentinel…WHY ,WHY, do you have to kill him,you wrote all this other books,..Im really piss at you. Reply Deep Down: Reacher is called in by Military Intelligence and sent undercover on a mission. Classified talks about a state-of-the-art sniper rifle are being infiltrated and it’s up to Reacher to sniff off the mole. It’s meant to be a zero-danger mission with no weapons involved, but if there’s one thing Reacher knows it’s that things rarely turn out that way. That's also something Reacher is counting on, when he agrees to take part in an off-the-books operation run by Susan Duffy, who works for the Justice Department, in drug enforcement.

Wikipedia Jack Reacher (book series) - Wikipedia

His journey will take him through small towns, the middle of nowhere, and the Wyoming wilderness. As he digs deeper into his search, things get more dangerous for him. The ring is just a link on a chain that leads Reacher to a vast criminal enterprise. Umm ... no: aside from being a physical impossibility, surely a miss would just swing Reacher uncomfortably around. The victim happens to be his own brother who he has not seen in seven years. It does not help that the main eyewitness happens to be the police chief who claims to have seen Reacher at the scene. Reacher knows he was boarding a bus in Tampa at the time. With the help of a Harvard-graduate chief detective and a female officer, Reacher traces his brother’s steps to solve the mystery. Of course this all happens in a span of only three days. Thanks Graeme, if there’s anything I can do to help implement the solution let me know (even if you just need someone to listen to your solution) as I worked in all areas of IT so might be able to help 🙂 ReplyDoran, Leslie (11 May 2003). "Lee Child's latest a persuasive effort". The Denver Post . Retrieved 20 October 2010. Excellent series, wonderful actors, I am thrilled to see Lee Childs books portrayed so well in a TV series, I am an avid fan and have read his books for many years, hope this series will continue! Reply One of those men is John Kott, an American marksman who went rogue. Kott is out of prison and unaccounted for, likely headed for the G8 Summit to take out other world leaders. Reacher is the man who stopped him before and now he’ll have to do it again. A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy.
